Governor Issues Stay At Home Order; What To Do And Not Do

We all know the war against the Coronavirus is taking place on a very complicated and ever changing battlefield.

What medical experts recommend one day changes and evolves on a daily, sometimes hourly basis.

The following is an article that highlights some of the dos and don’ts and a list of what is currently open and things that have been closed.

The best way to stay informed on the latest is to routinely watch the local news channels, listen to talk radio, and visit reputable websites and social media sites.

Much of the following comes from the Louisiana Governor’s website gov.louisiana.gov, which is one of those great sources of reliable information.

Below are the latest recommendations made by Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards, who issued a Stay At Home Order on March 22nd, directing all Louisiana residents to shelter at home and limit movements outside of their homes beyond essential needs.

According to the Stay At Home order:

YOU CAN:

*Go to the grocery, convenience or warehouse store. Please abide by the 6-foot while in the store rule and be sure to sanitize your hands before and after shopping.

*Go to the pharmacy to pick up medications and other healthcare necessities

*Go to medical appointments (check with your doctor or provider first)

*Go to a restaurant for take-out, delivery or drivethru only

*Care for or support a friend or family member

*Take a walk, ride your bike, hike, jog and be in nature for exercise - just keep at least 6-feet between you and others.

*Walk your pets and take them to the veterinarian if necessary

*Help someone to get necessary supplies

*Receive deliveries from any business which delivers

YOU SHOULD NOT:

*Go to work unless you are providing essential services

*Visit friends and family if there is no urgent need

*Maintain less than 6- feet of distance from others when you go out

*Visit loved ones in the hospital, nursing home, skilled nursing facility or other residential care facility, except for limited exceptions as provided on the facility websites.

Examples of Essential Worker Functions under the Cyberneticist & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) guidelines include:

Healthcare workers and caregivers, Mental health and Social Service workers, Pharmacy employees, Workers supporting groceries, pharmacies and other retail sales of food and beverage products, restaurant carryout and quick-serve food operations and food delivery employees and farmworkers.

Also deemed Essential workers are: Electricity and Utility Industry employees, Critical Manufacturing Employees (medical supply chains, energy, transportation, food, chemicals), Petroleum, Natural and Propane Gas Workers, Transportation and Logistics Workers, and Communications and Information Technology Employees.
