Last Friday the St. James Parish Government and the St. James Parish As-sociation of Retarded Citizens (ARC) made their new partnership official with a ribbon cutting celebration.
It has been no secret that the Bayou Chevreuil Bridge and Highway 20 through the swamps of St. James and Lafourche Parishes has been one of the more dangerous highways to travel in the entire State.
I’m sure all know by now that the traditional Lighting of the Bonfires has been canceled for 2020. I am also sure that some in our community are a little upset by the decision.
As of press time Wednesday morning, local officials attempting to design a plan to safely burn bonfires in the middle of a pandemic are still at the drawing board.
