LHS Atomic Bulldog Band Booster Uniform Contributions

The Lutcher High School Atomic Bulldog Band Booster gratefully acknowledges the generous contributions of the following companies for the purchase of new marching band uniforms for our growing program of music education and marching band excellence in Lutcher, Louisiana: We are most grateful for these companies’ generous support of our band and music education in the parish!

Across the River

The Emile and Jeanne Garon family lived in St. James not very far from St. James High School for three years at the start of World War II. The family moved to St. James where Emile worked for the railroad. The Garons eventually had a house full of children namely Valery, Jeanne, Allen, Earl, Henry and Rosemary. Henry Garon taught Physics at Loyola University and had a television program to teach physics to young teens. He also became a permanent deacon of the Catholic Church for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. A very creative man, Henry wrote books which he self-printed in his basement, and created music using electronics, which he also recorded. From his memoirs and research, he wrote “The Wildcats of St. James, 1937-40, which is only a small part of his 450-page “big book” entitled “A Louisiana Odyssey, Volume 1.” Garon died in 1921 but leaves behind in his published work some wonderful and interestingly written stories of St. James Parish. Perhaps his most important work regarding St. James Parish was the very early interview with Coach Harold Waguespack, the Father of St. James High Sports. In that interview, Prof Harold talked of how the name Wildcats was selected.
