OUBRE

OUBRE

Mildred Ann Laurent Oubre passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, August 21, at the age of 89.

A beloved teacher for seven years at St. Peter’s School in Reserve, Mildred Ann had many passions that followed her beyond the classroom. She loved gathering family in her home, decorating for every holiday, and making each occasion feel special. She was the matriarch. The voice. Whether offering the advice you needed, standing up for those she loved, or saying the thing no one else dared to say, you could always count on her to speak her mind - and often make you laugh while doing it. A lifelong learner with an enduring thirst for knowledge, she remained an avid reader until her final days.

Mildred Ann is survived by her loving husband, Rodney F. Oubre; her daughters, Mary Ann Oubre Moody (the late Samuel Gray Moody) and Nanette Oubre McCarroll (John); her four grandchildren, Michelle Moody Seymour, Samuel Gray Moody, Jr. (Elaina), Stephanie Moody (Craig Tearney), and Paul McCarroll; her two greatgrandchildren, Ethan Seymour and Reign Tearney; and her brothers, Maurice Laurent (Pat) and Merlyn Laurent (Karen).

She was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Jerri McCarroll; her sister, Murna F. Troglione; her brothers, Monty Laurent and Matthew Laurent; and her parents, Mildred and Maurice Laurent.

A private service will be held for the family. Mildred Ann leaves behind generations shaped by her strength, her wisdom, her humor, and a voice that will not soon be forgotten.
