BECK

Vernadette Beck, 66, of Lutcher, Louisiana, crossed over into eternal life on February 19, 2019.

“Bumsey”, as she was so affectionately known by family and friends, was born on November 24, 1952 to Annie Bell Jackson Shepherd and Carty Blue.

In 1975 Bumsey joined the United States Armed Forces, where she spent two years in active duty before being honorably discharged.

Bumsey was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Bell; father, Carty; and her stepfather, Melkayer Shepherd. She is survived by her only son, Alan J. Beck, III, and his wife, Lisa Marie Beck, along with her three grandchildren: Trevion Avery Beck (18), Dejah Marie Beck (17) and Jevauhn Alan Beck (16). She also leaves to mourn her four sisters: Genevia Pittman of Baton Rouge, LA; Cheryl Blue of Lutcher, LA; Sylvia Blue of Virginia Beach, VA; and Avis Shepherd of Laplace, LA; two brothers: Nathaniel Blue and Norman Shepherd of Lutcher, LA; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.

Bumsey will be laid to rest on March 5, 2019 in Columbia, South Carolina at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
