Life for Marlene “Deedy Girl” Bujol Morris began in Lutcher, LA on Sunday, January 15, 1939. She was born to the union of the late Freddie and Rosalie Coate At the age of eleven, she was baptized at King David Baptist Church by the late Reverend James Gordon, Sr. She united in holy matrimony to Leonard Morris on December 23,1958. Their union was blessed with six children: Carl, Kelvin, Shelly, Quintella, Bryant, Derwin and Tawayna Morris, whom she raised as a daughter.

Her love for God was to do His will as “A Servant”. She accepted her calling as a deaconess in the 1980’s. Attending Mission, Bible class, Sunday school, Midweek service, Summer vacation Bible school, and preparing the Lord’s Supper with other deaconess meant a lot to her. On Monday morning, September 5, 2022, she departed this life for her new life. Left to cherish her precious memories are her husband of sixty-five years: Leonard Morris; children: Carl (Joycelyn) Morris, Kelvin Morris, Shelly (Marcus) Warren, Quintella (Hayward) Batiste, and Derwin (Monique) Morris; devoted caretaker: Collette Boudin; daughter-in-law: Nina Morris; sisters: Della Jury, Wanda Wharton, Margaret (LeRoyal) Webster, Dolores (Cornel) Morris, Kathleen Shorty and Rayne (Alvin) Roberson; sisters-inlaw: Shirley Echols, Mary and Jameizina Bujol, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors, other family and friends.

Marlene was preceded in death by her parents: Freddie and Rosalie Bujol; son: Bryant Anthony Morris; mother and father-in-law: Louis and Orelia Morris; sisters: Mary Brown, Katie Hayes and Shelia Bujol; brothers: Freddie Jr., Reverend Alfred, Renee and Charles Mitchell Bujol.

A public walk-through visitation was held on Friday, September 16, 2022, at Treasures of Life Funeral Services, 315 E. Airline Hwy., Gramercy, LA 70052 from 4:00-6:00 p.m.

Family and friends were invited to attend the homegoing celebration of Marlene “Deedy Girl” Morris on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, 10860 Highway 3125 Lutcher, LA 70071. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until service time. Reverend Ferdinand Wallace Jr. of King David Baptist Church officiated. Entombment followed at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery in Paulina, LA. Final care and professional services entrusted to Treasures of Life Funeral Services.
