PATTERSON

George Patterson, 78, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and uncle.

George served in the National Guard for seven years. He was a driven and hardworking employee of Dupont for 37 years. While working there, he also ran a family owned and operated tire shop along side his wife and sons for many years. His determination to build a successful business and strong work ethic were just another reflection of the competitive spirit that defined him.

He loved visiting the Gulf Coast as often as life allowed the last few years after his retirement. His favorite weekends were the ones spent on the coast with his wife, kids, and grandkids. He also enjoyed attending the many events his grandkids participated in.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years Gail “Rodie” Patterson, his sons Pat Patterson and Ryan (Jessica) Patterson, his grandchildren Keagan Patterson, Kasen Patterson, and Kambree Patterson. He is also survived by his sisters JoAnn (Clarence “Todd”) Poche and Georgia Hymel, as well as many nieces, nephews, and brother and sister in laws. He is preceded in death by his parents Lester and Madeline Sexton, his brother Vince (Gwen) Patterson, his first born grandson Tristan Patterson (Ryan & Jessica), and nephew Todd Poche Jr.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend a Visitation and Funeral Mass on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, located at 616 East Main St., Gramercy, Louisiana 70052. Visitation was held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. The Funeral Mass followed at 11:00 a.m, and interment took place immediately after at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Paulina, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like for donations to be made to the American Cancer Society.
