ROUSSEL

Carey 'Hawk' Roussel, age 75, died on Saturday, February 24, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Morgan Joseph Roussel, III and Solange Martin Roussel Faucheux, and his two brothers, Morgan 'MJ' Roussel, IV and Ronald 'Toodie' Roussel.

Carey is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jane Laborde Roussel; his five children, Morgan Volion (Travis), Lauren Bordelon, Meg Roussel, Ryan Roussel (Rebecca), and Cari Jane Roussel; his six grandchildren, Carter, Cameron, and Cole Volion, Vivian and Benjamin Bordelon, and Jean Luc Roussel; his two brothers, Danny Roussel (Sue) and Mickey Roussel (Sonya); and his sister-inlaw, Vanessa Roussel.

Carey was born in Paulina, Louisiana on October 9, 1948. He graduated from Lutcher High School, where he was a 4-sport athlete and All-State football player. He attended LSU and graduated from Nicholls State University. He was a long-time resident of LaPlace, where he owned and operated Roussel Tire for 30 years. Carey lived a life of integrity and unwavering faith; his legacy extends to his grandchildren, with whom he enjoyed fishing and cheering them on at their many sporting events. Our hearts are filled with gratitude to the staff of St. Joseph's Carpenter House; your kindness will never be forgotten.

Relatives and friends were invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 529 W. 5th St. in LaPlace, on Thursday, February 29, 2024 at 11:30 a.m. A visitation was held at the church beginning at 9:30 a.m. The interment was held in Metairie Cemetery at a later date.
