Former St. James Parish School teacher Helen McGee-Young has been selected as the first recipient of the Buckner-Derbigny Community Award, and if there is a common theme found throughout her 35year teaching career, it is she fought for her students and for what is right.

The St. James Wildcat football team picked up its second straight victory by defeating the St. Charles Catholic Comets 15-11 in a non-district contest played last Friday at Frank Monica Field in LaPlace.
