Voters in St. James Parish joined a statewide rejection of five proposed constitutional amendments Saturday, defeating each measure by wide margins as Louisiana residents weighed changes affecting taxes, civil service, education, the judiciary and state finances.

Dr. Carl J. Poché passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2026, after a prolonged battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He was 93 years old.

Champions! The 2026 Lutcher High Bulldog baseball team won their third State Championship trophy in five years last Friday. The No. 3 seeded Bulldogs beat No. 1 seed Brusly 6-4 in Game 1 and 8-3 in Game 2. The team had quite a playoff run as the ‘Dogs p

Bulldog slugger Eric St. Pierre smacks a two-run homerun in the fourth inning of Game 2 to put Lutcher ahead 7-3. St. Pierre also had a solo homerun in Game 1. He finished the season batting .408 and six homeruns.

The team celebrates winning it all with the traditional “Bull” Dogpile! The 2026 Bulldogs finished the season with a 35-9 record.

Senior pitcher Dane Bodin was solid throughout the playoffs. In the postseason Bodin threw 27 innings, threw 377 pitches (244 for strikes) struck out 24 batters and walked just six.

Eric St. Pierre was named the Division II (non-select) Most Outstanding Player of the state tournament.
