Champions! The 2026 Lutcher High Bulldog baseball team won their third State Championship trophy in five years last Friday. The No. 3 seeded Bulldogs beat No. 1 seed Brusly 6-4 in Game 1 and 8-3 in Game 2. The team had quite a playoff run as the ‘Dogs p

Bulldog slugger Eric St. Pierre smacks a two-run homerun in the fourth inning of Game 2 to put Lutcher ahead 7-3. St. Pierre also had a solo homerun in Game 1. He finished the season batting .408 and six homeruns.

The team celebrates winning it all with the traditional “Bull” Dogpile! The 2026 Bulldogs finished the season with a 35-9 record.

Senior pitcher Dane Bodin was solid throughout the playoffs. In the postseason Bodin threw 27 innings, threw 377 pitches (244 for strikes) struck out 24 batters and walked just six.

Eric St. Pierre was named the Division II (non-select) Most Outstanding Player of the state tournament.

The St. James Parish Council is considering whether to pay per diems to those who serve on various boards and commissions.

The 2026 Riverside Academy Lady Rebel softball team beat the St. Frederick Warriors 11-1 to claim the program’s third State Championship trophy.

Lady Rebel pitcher Kamryn Cancienne was stellar in the post season. She pitched all 22 innings, struck out 34, walked seven, allowed only three runs, and ended with an ERA of .955.

Jaci Bordelon was one of Riverside’s best batters as she finished the season with a .512 batting average and she drove in 33 runs.

Olivia St. Pierre also had a fantastic season at the plate for the Lady Rebels. St. Pierre hit for a .477 average,, belted nine homeruns and had 48 RBIs.

The 2026 Riverside Academy Lady Rebel softball team beat the St. Frederick Warriors 11-1 to win the program’s third State Championship (2002, 2023 & 2026), and the five seniors that anchored this year’s team did something no other Riverside alum has ever done - win two state championships in their time at the high school.
