WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SANDWICH? While shopping recently, I noticed that lobster rolls were available from the seafood freezer case. The rolls, lobster meat and garlic butter were all in the box. All I had to do was grill the roll, heat the thawed lobster in the garlic butter and then put the two together. I ate the first one plain and was not too wowed by my first real taste of lobster. I say real taste because the only time I had lobster before was in a swanky New Orleans restaurant. I couldn’t wait to get into that lobster tail. I took a bite and didn’t at all like how it tasted. Those who were dining out with me asked why I wasn’t eating, and I confessed that I didn’t like the taste. One of them tasted my lobster and said that it had apparently was spoiled before cooking. I was quite disappointed. The chef offered another, but my excitement was gone and everyone else was about done eating. I had bread and salad and left not knowing what lobster really tastes like if prepared well. My grocery store-bought frozen lobster roll was my second attempt. The plain sandwich was another disappointment. On the second roll eaten a few days later, I added mayo and pickles, and it tasted better. If I get brave enough to try again, what should I put on my next lobster roll? Are you satisfied eating just buttered lobster on a roll? I really enjoy good sandwiches. There is a corner café in Thibodaux called The Willow and they make the most interesting sandwiches. Their featured sandwich a few weeks ago was bacon and jelly grilled cheese, which was paired with broccoli and cheese soup. Do you like to experiment with new sandwich ingredients, or do you stick with the familiar ham, turkey, roast beef, Spam, luncheon meat, liver loaf, smoked sausage? Do you add tomatoes or avocado? What’s on your favorite sandwich. Call, text or send an email.
