The St. James Parish Economic Development Department would like to recognize the accomplishments, hard work, and leadership of our local businesses.

College athletes who transferred were required to sit out a one season before 2018. The lone exception was a move from FBS to FCA, which allowed immediate eligibility. Transfers from FCS to FBS still required a year on the sidelines.

First Community Antioch Baptist Church will host a backpack giveaway for schoolchildren on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, in Lutcher, offering free backpacks, school supplies, food, games and music. The event aims to serve 300 students and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church's location at 10860 LA 3125.
