BACK TO SCHOOL IN A WEEK: It’s back to school time already! In just a week we will hear the rumble of the school buses up and down the streets and roads. It will be just a matter of days before the Wildcats and the Bulldogs will take to the field for the 2025 season. The teachers and school staffs have been attending meetings and trainings to learn new methods and get them all hyped to welcome their students. Best wishes to everyone. Drivers please be careful, especially in school zones. Enjoy your last free weekend before school starts!

PROGRESS COMES TO LUTCHER: The original, round wooden water tower came down in 1939 to make way for the new Lutcher water system. Senator Rodney Woods, Jr. announced in August of that year that the Lutcher waterworks plan neared reality thanks to 24 Lutcher citizens who agreed to purchase $7,950 worth of bonds to establish the waterworks system. Only $2050 more in bonds was needed to be sold and there were more people to contact. The 24 citizens who helped make the water project a reality were: Paulin Poche, T. J. Foret, Aloysius Bourgeois, Felix Nobile, A. G. Gearheard, Mrs. L. D. Prescott, Dr. Paul E. Johnson, Dr. Irving Gross, Oscar Reynaud, Rodney Woods, Jr., Dr. M. A. Tortorich, Sigur Martin, Durel Woods, A. D. Tramonte, Sam Corona, Frank Szubinski, W. J. Rouillier, Achille Bourgeois, Dr. A. J. Nobile, Gerald Viator, Sidney Bowman, A. L. Faucheux and George Reynaud.
