Lafourche Basin Levee District To Hold Public Hearing

The Lafourche Basin Levee District will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lafourche Basin Conservation Levee & Drainage District, Headquarters Office, located at 21380 Highway 20, Louisiana, 70090 to consider levying additional or increased millage rates without further voter approval or adopting the adjusted millage rate and rolling forward to rates not to exceed the prior year’s maximum.

Hannah Roussel Compete In LA Sugar Queen Festival As Kami Hymel Relinquishes Her Queen Sugar Crown

Hannah Roussel, the 2024 Miss St. James Parish Queen, will be competing this weekend in the 81st Louisiana State Sugar Queen Festival in New Iberia as our very own Kami Hymel of Paulina relinquishes her Queen Sugar crown to a new queen. Kami will arrive in New Iberia on Wednesday afternoon to reign over the festival starting with radio interviews on Thursday morning, visiting the Farm Fest event with the special needs children, crowning the Junior King and Junior Queen of the festival, then attending the King’s Reception on Thursday night. Friday she will be attending, along with the new King Sucrose Bryan Harang, the Livestock Show, Blessing of the Crop, Viewing of the Art and Flower Show. After Lunch they will be judging the Houses and Businesses decorated for the festival. Later, they will join the contestants at their interviews.
