Financial Assistance Available For Utility Bills
Low-income residents of St. James Parish may be eligible for financial assistance to help pay utility bills, through the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP). The LIHEAP program is a federally funded program administered by St. James Parish Government, Department of Human Resources, CAA made available to St. James Parish through the Louisiana Housing Corporation. Applicants applying for assistance must provide the necessary documentation below to complete a LIHEAP application:
Lutcher Man Sentenced To Twenty Years For Attempted Manslaughter
Twenty-third Judicial District Attorney Ricky Babin’s office reports on May 19, 2025, Clydedric Joseph (30-years old, 2190 Levy Gaudet St. Lutcher) pled guilty to Attempted Manslaughter, and on January 20, 2026, Joseph was sentenced to 20-years with the Louisiana Department of Corrections (with credit for time served).
Students Of The Year, Spelling Bee Winners Honored By School Board
The St. James Parish School Board met Tuesday evening and the meeting was highlighted by two recognition ceremonies held to honor some of the District’s best and brightest students.
