Pastor Nathaniel Batiste of St. Luke Baptist Church 5030 Hwy. 18; St James, LA, is celebrating his 2nd year Pastoral Anniversary on Sunday, August 27 at 1:30 p.m.
On Saturday, August 12, 2023, the Miss St. James Parish Sugar Queen Committee celebrated its 70th annual Miss St. James Parish and 31st Miss Teen St. James Parish Pageant. The pageant was held at Lutcher High School Auditorium in Lutcher. The mistress of ceremonies was Kathleen Musso Avenel of Covington, our 1987 Miss St James and Queen Sugar 46th, and the master of ceremonies was Seth Bourgeois of Paulina. The theme for this year’s pageant was “Celebrating 70 Years”.
The Louisiana State Police report that on August 14, 2023, shortly before 5:00 p.m., Troopers with Louisiana State Police Troop A began investigating a three-vehicle automobile accident on US 61 north of LA 3274 in St. James Parish.
A special Lutcher Town meeting was called Tuesday evening by Lutcher Mayor Patrick St. Pierre in an effort to bring the Board of Aldermen and the public up to speed on issues affecting the Town’s water treatment facility.
