Hurricane Ida hit Louisiana’s Gulf Coast at 11:55 a.m. on Sunday. August 29, 2021 and at 6:05 p.m., Rev. Lionel “Slim” Joseph Nelson, Jr. transitioned from his earthly home to his heavenly home.
St. James Parish officials announced Friday that the Parish Pumpkin Patch originally scheduled for the last two weeks of October will be limited to just one weekend due to damages incurred at the Parish’s Welcome Center and due to ongoing Hurricane Ida recovery measures taking place throughout the Parish.
“The last several weeks have been some of the most trying times that our Parish has seen in a very long time. While we were spared the devastating level of damage our fellow River Parishes are facing, we were not without significant impacts from Hurricane Ida,” said Parish President Peter Dufresne at the start of the St. James Parish Council meeting held last Wednesday in Vacherie.
