Last Wednesday, St. James Parish President Peter Dufresne vetoed two resolutions previously passed by the Parish Council during its April 14th meeting. Neither of the two vetoes were overridden by the council.
If you ever drive through the streets of Lutcher, chances are you will encounter a speed bump at some point. The seem to be everwhere.
It is always a very special occasion when a member of our community gets to celebrate a 100th year birthday because it is not too often one gets to say they have been alive for an entire century!
Every ten years, and by law, Congressional Districts, the State legislature, and public bodies such as the School Board, Parish Council and the towns of Lutcher and Gramercy must take a look at the most recent Census data concerning population and determine if it is necessary to reapportion/redistrict to insure the various districts are proper and the local population is fairly represented.
