The first graders in Mrs. Sherie Chenier's Math classes have been busy learning about strategies to add large numbers. Some of the strategies learned were the number bond strategy, quick tens and ones, dimes and pennies, the arrow way, and etc. The students learned all of the strategies, but were able to solve problems using their favorite strategy.
St. James Parish Government, Department of Human Resources, Community Action Agency, Elderly Program is currently taking applications for the Alzheimer’s Voucher Program for fiscal year 2021-2022. Caregivers often provide 24 hour a day care for their loved ones; the Alzheimer’s Voucher Program is a program designed to provide relief to family members or caregivers while providing homecare for an elderly individual. Caregivers / Providers will be able to make choices that work best for them.
St. James Parish Government, Department of Human Resources, Community Action Agency (DHR) will celebrate national “Try Transit” week, May 17-23, 2021 in partnership with the Louisiana Department of Transportation. DHR will offer fun activities to encourage people to ride the Transit bus as well as thank current riders for using the service. Throughout the week of May 17th, staff members will be handing out giveaway items and thanking riders for using public transportation.
Sheriff Martin announced that TaLaija La’Shay Allen has been named the recipient of an academic scholarship from the Louisiana Sheriffs’ Scholarship Program for the 2020-2021 school year. TaLaija is the daughter of Allen Stark, III and Telisha La’Donna Allen-Stark of Lutcher.
