Trailing 21-20, deep in their own territory, with no timeouts and literally seconds remaining on the play clock, Lutcher ran one last play and quarterback D’Wanye Winfield launched a pass toward the Bulldog sideline and senior receiver Tylin Johnson somehow got behind the Comet defenders, caught the ball, and seemed to be headed to the end zone to win the game in a dramatic/walk-off fashion. However, before Johnson could make it to the promised land Comet linebacker Michael Hotard hustled, sprinted and made the play of the game when he dove and tackled Johnson at the Comet four-yard line to win the game and send his teammates and the homestanding crowd into a frenzy.
