St. James Wildcat star athlete/football player Khai Prean made it official last week when he announced his committment to play football for the LSU Tigers in 2023. Prean, who is one of the most sought after athletes/ football players in Louisiana, was highly recruited because of his versatility and his ability to play different positions on both offense, defense and special teams. Prean, who was also recruited by Auburn, Ole Miss and Florida St., made his announcement in the St. James High auditorium last week and in front of family, friends and teammates. The 6’, 190 lbs. Prean transferred from Ascension Catholic in Donaldsonville to perennial Class 3A powerhouse St. James and he indicated that his close relationships with the LSU coaching staff and his relationship with recent Tigers' commits, including Woodlawn quarterback Rickie Collins and wide receivers Shelton Sampson and Jalen Brown, influenced his decision to choose LSU.

Noah Detillier and Cohen Veron have been friends and baseball teammates for as long as one can remember and that trend will continue for the foreseeable future as both recently signed on the dotted line to play baseball at Nunez Community College in Chal- mette, LA. The two recent Lutcher High graduates, their families, coaches, and a host of teammates and friends gathered at the Lutcher High Dogs Den to make it official and sign the paperwork to become Nunez Pelicans.

Leonardo Fuentes and Kaleb Wilkins from St. Amant High School ran the 4 x 800 meter relay and placed 7th in the AAU Junior Olympics. Leonardo ran four events during the week long event. These runners are some of the best in the United States. The Olympics had 13,000 athletes from all across the United States and Puerto Rico.
