Students at Sixth Ward Elementary are ecstatic about the integration of technology this school year! The One-to-One initiative implemented by St. James Parish School System affords students opportunities to become prepared for 21st century learning through innovative learning.
The Third Grade students in Mrs. Katie Vicknair’s reading class are adapting well to the changes brought on this school year. The students always enjoy independent reading time in Mrs. Katie’s reading corner, but have switched things up this year due to social distancing.
St. James Council on Aging in partnership with Bayou Regional Arts Council hosted three art sessions of music and photography classes to increase arts and culture awareness in underserved populations.

Last week the St. James Parish School Board, Parish Council and the Sheriff’s Department all opposed and rejected signing on to give Praxair, a company currently constructing a methane reforming facility on Shell’s property in Convent, an Industrial Tax Exemption where the company would receive a 10- year, 80 percent property tax exemption.
