Catholic Daughters Court St. Joseph # 1642 Announces Membership Drive Oct. 22, 2023

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas was instituted as a national organization in 1903 for women with the purpose of growing in spirituality and working in faithful service and love for God. 50 years later, a group of ladies from St. Joseph Catholic Church organized Court St. Joseph. Now Court St. Jospeh incorporates St. Joseph and Sacred Heart Churches and recently celebrated its 70th Anniversary. Regent Regaina Forsythe says our local court has been truly blessed with the dedication, commitment and generosity of members which has allowed our court to flourish for 70 years. Regaina further stated the impact our local CDA Court has on our community is truly a blessing through the various charitable, religious, and educational projects of the Court and emphasized “Membership is a blessing both to members and to the community”! However, for our court to remain strong and active, we need new members! October 22nd will be CDA Sunday and CDA members will have membership information and will be available after mass to speak with anyone interested in joining the Catholic Daughters or you may contact any officer of CDA Court #1642.

October Is Child Search Awareness Month In Louisiana

October is Child Search Awareness month in Louisiana. Child Search is a program in every school system to ensure that any child who is eligible for Special Educational Services receives them. It’s the Law… Every child age 3-21, regardless of disability is entitled to a free, appropriate public education. In addition, babies birth through age 2 who have problems may be evaluated free of charge and provided services if eligible. If you know of a child in St. James Parish who may have a disability such as a vision impairment, a learning problem, or a mental disability, or a child who is gifted or talented, contact: Senecca Boudreaux - Director of Special Education or Laquita Christian - Child Search Coordinator at the St. James Parish School Board Office, P.O. 2023 Toy & Coat Drive

St. James Parish Government, Dept. of Human Resources, CAA is sponsoring its annual Toy and Coat Drive for needy families in St. James Parish. The Special Programs Department is currently accepting donations to purchase Toys and Coats through December 1, 2023.
