Carey Deroche Compete In LA Sugar Queen Festival

Carey Roussel, the 2025 Miss St. James Parish Queen, will be competing this weekend in the 82nd Louisiana State Sugar Queen Festival in New Iberia.

The day Roussel was frocked Chief Petty Office in 2001.

Roussel and fellow U.S. Navy sailors installing a cistern for a hospital in Eritrea, Africa.

Roussel reenlisting to serve in the Navy aboard the the CV-12 carrier her father, Norris Roussel, served on while a marine. The ship was no longer in use, but it was a special occasion for Roussel.

School Board Honors Students For Perfect Leap Scores; Thanks Rep. Brass

The St. James Parish School Board met Tuesday and students who made a perfect score in a subject found on the LEAP test were honored, and the Board recognized and thanked State Representative Ken Brass for delivering $300,000 in funding used for the District’s intern program, cosemotology program, and to implement a broadcast media studio at St. James High.
