The 2026 Krewe of Making a Change (M.A.C.) Mardi Gras Day parade drew thousands of onlookers as Main Street from the beginning of the parade route in Gramercy to the ending point in Lutcher was lined with parade goers.
U.S. Rep. Troy Carter delivered a message of unity and equality Friday morning at Gramercy Elementary School, using colorful illustrations and plainspoken encouragement to remind students that “everyone matters.”
The January American Legion Post 171 meeting was bittersweet as the membership honored two recently deceased members, Norris Roussel and Nelson Rouiller, and the group also honored and recognized Legionnaire Annie Roussel, who raised extra money for the Marine program Toys for Tots.
The St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office recently announced two drug bust, one in Lutcher where one man was arrested, and another in Vacherie that nabbed three suspects.
