March 15, 2024 Gramercy Elementary School's faculty and staff, students, families and community members gathered at Lutcher High School to celebrate the 13th annual Gator Gala. The theme was centered around the adventurous tale told in a beloved children’s book “Where the Wild Things Are!” One of the main characters in the story, Max, acted out because he was angry and hungry which resulted in his mom putting him to bed without eating. So Max imagined a world around him, full of other wild things, where he reigned as king. The themes in the book aren't just for children. In only 338 words, the author, Maurice Sendak, keenly observed human nature and imagination. As the Royal Court was introduced, seven life lessons from Where the Wild Things Are were shared as all guests set sail, like Max, to an island of imagination to experience all the lessons that Max learns along the way.
The 3 Ell’s Club are still looking for an individual/ family/ non- profit organization to be their next beneficiary for their next variety show. The show will likely be held in spring of 2025 at Lutcher High School, as their previous shows have taken place. The deadline of accepting requests has been extended to Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
