I decided to schedule grief over my mother’s death for a later time. I thought it would be easier to sit and process the sorrow when I was sure my dad was okay, when the details were done, when there was space in my day for the luxury of sitting quietly. Yet grief insists on popping up uninvited. Uninvited is bad enough, but it’s also at the most inconvenient of times.
