Twenty-two new businesses registered with St. James Parish in 2025, and sales taxes are the highest in the past five-years, but tourism is down significantly according to Camella St. Pierre Landry, chairwoman of the St. James Parish Economic Development Board.

The Lutcher Mayor and Aldermen met Tuesday evening, and after months of discussion, the Board finally voted to increase water rates for residential and commercial customers.
