When my 7.5-year old daughter and I took a drive down Lutcher’s Second and Third Streets last week and saw numerous homes flying American Flags in Honor of Veterans Day, I had a very warm and pleasant feeling in my heart. It was a feeling that made me proud to live in this community.
Sharon Lavigne, founder of RISE St. James and protestor currently fighting against Formosa Plastics constructing a $9.4 billion facility on the West Bank of St. James Parish, has filed a lawsuit asking a Federal Court declare that Gramercy’s ordinance governing Parades and Demonstration Permits, as recently applied to RISE St. James, is unconstitutional and violates the First Amendment right of Freedom of Speech.
