Last weekend, April 19-April 21, students with the St. James Parish Talented Art program joined our 2023 Miss St. James Parish Relay for Life queen in her efforts to Paint the Parish Purple to raise money for Relay for Life and bring awareness to the upcoming event.
The LSU AgCenter, West St. James Farm Bureau, and East St. James Farm Bureau will sponsor the Home Vegetable Garden Contest this spring for adults and 4-H / youth. They will also sponsor Tomato Field Day which will be held in mid-May 2024.

The St. James Parish Planning Commission convened Monday evening at the Vacherie Courthouse Annex to conduct a Public Hearing on a proposed solar farm, that if allowed to be constructed, would be built on various parcels of sugarcane farm land (3,500 acres in total and 2,200 acres of actual solar panels) in the heart of Vacherie.
