St. James Parish Registrar of Voters Taylor Roussel would like to announce Early Voting dates and locations for the upcoming Parish Proposition/ General Election scheduled for April 27, 2024.
By now you should be aware that on April 27, 2024, St. James Parish Government is asking registered voters to pass a new, 6-mill ad valorem (property tax) to save the Parish’s solid waste fund from eventual bankruptcy.
The St. James Parish School Board, at its monthly meeting in March, voted to approve a one-time Retention/ Recruitment Stipend of $3,000 for full-time certified teachers/professional personnel and a one-time stipend of $1,250 for support employees. Well, during Tuesday’s monthly April meeting, the Board received a memo from the Finance Department offering more detail on who is eligible for the payments and how and when the stipends will be paid.
