My name is Elizabeth “Liz” Wahl Andre of Paulina, Louisiana, and I’m announcing my candidacy for St. James Parish School Board, District 4. I was born in Metairie, and our family moved to Lutcher 52 years ago. I attended public school at Lutcher Elementary School and Lutcher High School where I graduated in 1976. After working as a process operator for 23 years, I retired from MOTIVA / Shell Oil refinery in Convent, Louisiana in 2020.
When a bankrupt Texas businessman bagged his first kettle-cooked bag of spicy chips in 1985, St. James Parish has proudly enjoyed its identity as the “Home of Zapp’s Potato Chips”.
Just like the River Road in Lutcher will no longer be the same since the Ferry Landing caught fire and burned last week, South Railroad Avenue in Lutcher was forever changed as the old Red & White Store building was demolished Monday morning.
The St. James Parish Council met last Wednesday in Vacherie and a lot was discussed during the gathering.
