Hundreds of students across St. James Parish will have an opportunity to begin the new school year with the supplies they need during two community school supply giveaways sponsored by Helping Hand Haven and Mosaic.
First Community Antioch Baptist Church will host a backpack giveaway for schoolchildren on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2026, in Lutcher, offering free backpacks, school supplies, food, games and music. The event aims to serve 300 students and will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church's location at 10860 LA 3125.
